Interested in psychology, mental health, or just genuinely care about people? Stop by during my office hours and I can help find you opportunities around the community that work for whatever your desired involvement. Even if you’re not sure if you’re ready to go out into the community, I would love to talk with you about your interests and ways to further connect you to Coe and your future aspirations.

Do you like working with kids? Whether it’s teaching, coaching, mentoring, or anything in between, please let me know! There are countless ways to get involved with the youth community in Cedar Rapids and I’d be honored to help connect you with these opportunities.

If you like animals and giving back to the Cedar Rapids community, visit me during my office hours. I can provide you with lists of community partners and contacts. Even if you’re allergic to animals, there are many positions that work with animal services and avoid direct contact with animals. In any case, you can come talk to me to learn more about getting involved!

Students should contact me if they have any interest in volunteering at the Catherine McAuley Center or anywhere else that supports immigrants and refugees! I have a strong tie with and a love for the Catherine McAuley Center (which is just a few blocks away from Coe!). I am also a good resource for students who want to get involved at His Hands Free Medical Clinic and other hospital/healthcare opportunities in the community.

I am helping to coordinate overnight volunteers for the Willis Dady Homeless Shelter (just a couple blocks away from Coe). Students and staff help the shelter by staffing eight overnight shifts each month, which in turn saves thousands of dollars every year. Overnight volunteers have limited responsibilities, but are still able to make a real difference for a great cause. Email me for more information!
